Hartelco started as Cedar County Farmer’s Telephone Company in 1905.
Over the years, our name has changed to Hartington Telephone Company, Hartington Telecommunications, and finally now Hartelco.
But it’s the same top-notch service supplied by our great employees that you’ve come to know for over a century. Now in the 21st century, we’re still leading the way as every single one of our customers are served by fiber optic cable – the same service that many metropolitian areas would love to have.
Thankfully our Board of Directors has the Hartington area as top priority when making decisions. Their foresight enabled Hartelco to bring fiber optics, which in turn opens a vast network of worldwide opportunities for anyone living in our service area.
Our company started the CATV service to Hartington in 1981, and made a significant upgrade to an IPTV system in 2012 which brings many more entertainment services to our customers. Plus with local activities such as Cedar County Fair events, homecoming parades, our annual Candlelight Christmas parade, and all home football and basketball games for both of our local high schools being carried “live” on Hartelco TV, we bring the best of your community right into your home!
Internet service was started in the early to mid-90’s as dial-up service. Over the years we’ve made improvements to ensure that all our customers – even rural farms – have the same great service as their urban counterparts. We’ve now evolved into providing high-speed Internet (broadband) over fiber optic cable to each and every home and business that we serve. We currently offer 100 Mbps download speeds, and are anticipating offering even higher speeds in the future.
We love our community, and do our very best to serve each and every customer. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with suggestions on how we can further assist our great community.
